Glad you asked. Here’s the story — straight from the Spencers themselves:

EST. 2003 – Las Vegas, NV

The Spencers, a deep-rooted Texas family, decided to spice things up and head West, leaving their hometown behind to start fresh in fabulous Las Vegas. Once they hit the Mojave Desert, it was clear they had found something special — a vibrant city with a thriving tattoo culture and endless inspiration.

Charlie, the family patriarch, got his first tattoo right here in Las Vegas. Tagging along was his 9-year-old son, Austin, wide-eyed and soaking it all in. That moment? A game-changer. Years later, Austin was asked to illustrate a tattoo design in high school — and it lit the spark. From that point on, art wasn’t just a hobby. It was a calling.

He jumped into an apprenticeship with full energy and never looked back. Meanwhile, Charlie — who had spent 30 years in land surveying — traded in maps and measurements for machines and ink. In 2003, father and son opened what would soon become one of the city’s most beloved tattoo studios: Studio 21 Tattoo Gallery.

The idea was simple but powerful: blend the professionalism and creativity of an art gallery with the vibe and energy of a top-tier tattoo shop. And it worked.

Shortly after, the rest of the family joined in — Becki and daughter Courtney added their talents to the mix, and just like that, Studio 21 became a full-blown family affair.

Fast Forward to Today…

We’ve been doing this for 22+ years. In that time, we’ve grown into a trusted, go-to studio for both locals and tourists in Las Vegas. Our current shop on Flamingo Rd. is double the size of the original — and packed with 7–9 talented artists offering everything from traditional to fine line, Japanese to illustrative, and beyond.

We’re still family-owned. Still artist-driven. Still passionate about giving every single client an unforgettable tattoo experience.

And yes, we love tacos.
