    Museum of Fine Arts Houston

scarab busBMW MotorcycleCute coupleTed and PatGrandpa and grandaughter.Uncle John.AWS_1762Austin Spencer Las VegasThe Spencer Family took a trip back down south recently to visit our family in good ol’ Houston, Tejas. We got a chance to introduce the newest member of the fam (Baby Lucy) to the Grandparents, cook some great meals and check out the Houston Museum of Fine Arts. Being a car guy I was super excited to find out that the Museum had a really really cool exhibit , Sculpted in Steel: Art Deco Automobiles and Motorcycles, 1929–1940. We grabbed lunch and hung out with two of my favorite guys, my uncle John (Charlie’s brother) and my Grandpa Ted (Becki’s Dad). They rule. Grandpa Ted is hands down the most influential person in our family. A small business owner, Woodworker, landscaping all around creative man, my grandpa is the coolest. He’s the one who decides that when he’s interested in something, he goes ALL IN. He started framing artwork for my mom when she was a teenage illustrator and got so good and so “into” it that he ended up opening an Art Gallery and Frames shop. His wife my grandma Pat is also a very creative and hard working lady. She owned a wedding cake bakery in the same parking lot as my grandpas Frame Shop/Art Gallery. As a kid I spent a lot of time in both of the business cleaning and helping out the employees learning all sorts of things from making roses out of cake fondant to cutting frame molding and talking to clients. I never realized how much influence Grandpa Ted had on our family till we got our business going. I feel pretty special to be raised around him, being exposed to the idea that at anytime you want..you can just get into something and completely immerse yourself and maybe even start a business! I always wonder what I could  possibly fall in love with next. Thanks Grandpa Ted for being so damn awesome. Thanks for checking out the new blog and hope to keep up on it more.

    New Tattoo Trends

    New Tattoo Trends

I’ve been seeing a lot of tattoo reference pictures coming through the shop lately with this loose watercolor style color overlaying  simple black line work. I have to admit I was a little weary at first and didn’t understand it..(like an old grumpy man). I looked a little more into and figured I’d give it a shot! Luckily I had a client asking for something different so I gave it a go and have to admit that I was pretty happy with the outcome. She really loved the piece and I wouldn’t be bummed at all about doing more of this style! Call the shop and let me know if your interested in creating something special with me. Thanks for checking it out! Be sure to follow me on Instagram @Onmydong

Our Studio Does Take Walk Ins

Our Studio Does Take Walk Ins

Our studio does take walk ins daily.

Studio 21 Tattoo does take walk ins every day. We try to always have at least one artist available for walk ins. At times it has been brought to our attention that people think we are too busy here at the studio to do walk in services. That is just not the case. We currently have eight extremely talented artists on staff. We are never too busy to accommodate your tattoo needs!

It is advised that you call first to make sure someone is available, but it is very rare that we wouldn’t have at least one artist ready for your last minute tattoo decision. Please keep in mind that many of the art pieces that we do require some planning and drawing time prior to the tattoo procedure. This is the whole idea for making appointments! So that we can schedule the time and have ample preparation time to do the job right.

We are only two miles west of the Las Vegas Strip, so it is advised that you take a cab instead of the uphill walk from Caesar’s Palace or the Bellagio Hotel & Casino. On a nice, cool day in February, this might be a great little hike, but in the summer you might have a heat stroke trekking up that hill! We want you to enjoy your experience in Las Vegas, so please plan accordingly.

    World Famous Tattoo Shop

    World Famous Tattoo Shop

Visual Proof That We Are A World Famous Tattoo Shop With World Famous Tattoo Artists

Many businesses claim to be world famous. We at Studio 21 Tattoo can not only claim to be a world famous tattoo shop, we can actually prove it! A few months ago, we added a map with pins color coordinated with our world famous tattoo artists. Each artist at our studio has worked with clientele from all over the globe. We even have pins on the map that are out in the ocean as some of our clients live on offshore oil rigs.

On any given day, we have visitors from the farthest reaches of the planet visit our studio. Many visitors speak English, but some do not. That’s when it gets interesting! Usually though, folks who don’t speak our language will have an interpreter in their group to help the artist figure out what the tattoo idea is.

It’s not unusual to have people from several different countries in the studio at the same time. It’s always fun to be a part of their adventure! It’s kind of a big deal to be in Las Vegas for many of these folks and they just want to commemorate their trip by adding to their tattoo collection. Some get just a little something to remind them of their amazing trip to fabulous Las Vegas and others plan ahead and get very large pieces. Those who get the large pieces are familiar with what our studio has to offer and plan well in advance to get a very special art piece that they may not be able to get back home.

We frequently hear people say that they just don’t have the quality artists available in their community and plan their trip to Vegas around the tattoo experience. Our artist portfolios which are available on the web site demonstrate the outstanding talent that our customers have at their disposal. Feel free to check out our artists on instagram under @onmydong, @21tat, @biggsstudio, @savageson, @darthswarm, @phillucktattoo, @nickbonestattoos, @zionero. All anyone has to do is give the artist and idea and the results are extremely impressive.

    Tattoo Artist Portfolios

    Tattoo Artist Portfolios

Considering some new ink? First it is always wise to take a look at the tattoo artist portfolios to help make this very important decision.

There are many styles of tattoos available these days. It is always recommended that when considering permanent art work on your body to first see if the tattoo parlor you choose to do business with has the right artist for your tattoo. The tattoo artist portfolio will give you an idea of the style of art work the artist feels confident in doing.

Tattoo artists are like fingerprints. No two are the same. You probably wouldn’t want a portrait artist doing a traditional full color back piece. On the other hand, you also would not want the traditional ship and anchor guy doing your grandma’s portrait. Some artists are very versatile and can do many different styles. Most artists have a style they prefer to focus on and that will show in the tattoo artist portfolios.

If you are looking for a very small tattoo, it may not be so important to shop around for the best tattoo artist in your community. You just want to find the right person for the job. Small tattoos are important too! Actually some of the small tattoos are difficult to perfect. One really needs to find an artist that does super clean work. One tiny mistake shows up more on a little tattoo than it will on a large piece.

One can’t express how important it is to study tattoo artist portfolios. Our studio has seven artists available for that tattoo you’ve been thinking about. We have a variety of styles represented here. Jasen “Swarm” Wood @darthswarm is a very experienced artist with a traditional style. Mike Biggs @biggsstudio is anything but traditional. He loves to do creepy, spooky stuff and is very accomplished at photo realism. Tyson Taumaoe @savageson is an amazing illustrator with a background in caricature art. He has adapted his illustration skills to tattooing and it works extremely well! Nick Bones @nickbonestattooshas a neo-traditional style and loves to do anything with a pug in it! Phil Luck @phillucktattoo is an outstanding east coast style traditional tattoo artist with many years experience. He also produces tattoo flash that is amazing!

The owners here at Studio 21 Tattoo are also very experienced tattoo artists having been busy tattooing in Las Vegas since the late 90’s. Austin @onmydong is an amazing illustrator/painter. He has a tattoo style all his own. Austin specializes in colorful artwork with flowing designs. Charlie @21tat sticks with a traditional style. Perfect line work and bold colors with simple designs is what you will find here.

If you are considering getting tattooed on your next trip to Las Vegas or you are a local looking for the right artist for you, make sure to check out our tattoo artist portfolios before you make that decision for a lifetime!
